Vietnamese Boat People Monument
         Bankstown (29.7 square-miles, 180,000 people) is a city-suburb located in the southwest corner of Sydney, Australia. It is a commercial center with a large number of manufacturing businesses. It is divided into four wards, each electing three councilors.

         According to the 2006 Census, the most common countries of birth of those residents was Lebanon 7.1%, Vietname 6.3%, China 2.4%, New Zealand 1.4% and Greece 1.4%. The Vietnamese commercial center is named Saigon Place.

         The Vietnamese Boat People Monument in Saigon Place, Bankstown NSW Australia was officially unveiled on Friday 4 November 2011 by Mr. Thanh Nguyen, President of VCA, Councilor Khal Asfour, Mayor of Bankstown, Ms. Tania Mihailuk MP, Member for Bankstown and Mr. Richard Phillips Vice President of Bankstown Sports Club.
