GROUNDBREAKING CEREMONY FOR THE VIETNAM WAR MEMORIAL, ORLANDO, FL

The groundbreaking ceremony for the Vietnam War Memorial occurred on May 26, 2012 at Baldwin Memorial Park, Orlando, FL in front of 300 guests, including government officials and representatives of religious and Vietnamese community groups.
It began with a salute to US and South Vietnamese anthems followed by a dance of Dragon exhibit by the Thuy Duong student group, speeches from representatives, and the groundbreaking ceremony itself.
It has been six years from the time the City of Orlando gave permission for the group to go ahead with the process (2006) until the actual permit to build the memorial was granted in the center of the city. The planned cost is estimated at $250,000, of which 130,000 have been raised.
