Editorial Note: This magnificent song Never Lose the Light by Serlha and Youlha illustrates the plight of the Tibetans who fought the colonialist communist Chinese. So far more than 100 Tibetans had immolated themselves in their fight for freedom.
Like Vietnam, Tibet is a peripheral country that once was dominated by China. It became an independent country until it was swallowed whole again by the Chinese. Vietnam liberated itself from China in 939 AD and has remained independent until now, except for a period between 1406-1428. Hanoi and the communists were so beholden to the Chinese during and after the war that people feared the communist Chinese would invade Vietnam again. Hanoi had given part of Vietnam's northern territorial borders to China. It would not fight China in the battle for the Paracel and Spratley islands. As a matter of fact, the communist Pham Van Dong recognized the rights of China on the Spratleys, which were under South Vietnamese control.
At this time, the Tibetans and overseas Vietnamese have linked together to fight against the communist Chinese: VIETNAM-TIBET ALLIANCE FIGHTING FOR FREEDOM. Where does Hanoi stand? Of course with China... When Viet Khang wrote a song to express his warning against China, Hanoi jailed him for 4 years. NEVER BELIEVE IN HANOI OR CHINA.
