VIOLENT CRACKDOWNS IN HUNG YEN, NORTH VIETNAM

04/24/2012
From the BBC

Three thousand Cong An (Secret Police) converge on the province of Hung Yen, 20 miles east of Hanoi, North Vietnam to destroy homes and evict peasants who refuse to sell their lands on the cheap to the government (without their lands, peasants cannot earn their living). The latter plans to sell the lands at high prices to foreigners who propose to set up a project (?$200 million Ecopark) in the region. The lady in the tape describes the crackdown during which Cong An, armed policemen, and even trucks, bulldozers take part in the action.

The second tape shows citizens being roughed up and one severely beaten by the Cong An the day after.
